Hey! Hello! Hi! My name is Jany (short for January) and I love what I do. I've worked in design for over ten years, and I can honestly say that I still have fun with my work. Colors make me smile, patterns excite me, and small surprises in my daily life inspire me. I love randomness and chaos as much as I love order and mathematics, and am intrigued by complexities that I am convinced can be solved – or at least, understood.
I graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1997 with a BFA in Communication Design. There, I learned how to follow rules and use grids, only to break those same rules – and get away with it. Being in New York is in itself an artist’s tutelage; while I gained valuable design experience working for Pentagram, Lee Hunt Associates, Razorfish, USA Network, and Nickelodeon, the lively and multi-dimensional Big Apple continues to cultivate me and refine my design skills and sensibilities. The range of projects that I’ve worked on is broad and extensive, spanning from branding & corporate identity to packaging, posters, on-air graphics, apparel, premiums, and environmental graphics. Through the years, my clients have included Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Noggin, United Media, Sesame Street, Comedy Central, USA Network, TV Land, Fox Kids, Disney, Parham Santana, NBC, BDA, Game Show Network, Lifetime Channel, Bass Shoes, NY Public Theater, Argentina’s Showcenter Haedo, and many more.
I am currently freelancing from my home office in Brooklyn, New York.
